Rev. Doyle Sharp

     Rev. William (Doyle) Sharp comes to us from St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ponca City where he’s served for the past three years.  He has also served Trinity United Methodist Church in Purcell, a bit closer to home he’s served Fletcher United Methodist Church.  He also served First United Methodist Churches in Caddo/Bokchito while he attended Seminary and First & Chapel Hill United Methodist Churches in Arapaho while he attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

     He holds a BA degree which he received in 1998 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, with a major in English and minor in Psychology.   He obtained a Master of Divinity from Southern Methodist University Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, TX in 2002. 

     Doyle is married to the Reverend Doctor Janice Sharp, who has been appointed to serve as the Senior Pastor at the First United Methodist Church of Duncan.

     They have a blended family consisting of his four children, Desiree, Adam, Isaiah and Aaron and her two children Carrie and Nathan.

     Doyle considers Tulsa his hometown.  Prior to answering the call to ministry within The United Methodist Church he worked for 10 years at American Airlines in Tulsa as a mechanic.  He was a machinist in the engine shop for most of that time and lived on a small farm in Chelsea where he raised an assortment of animals.  He attended Memorial United Methodist Church in Chelsea where he taught Sunday School and served as chair of many of the committees within the Church.

     He plays golf for fun and exercise.  He is an avid reader who enjoys music and spending time with his wife and family.  He loves the Lord and finds fulfillment as an elder within the Church.  He is active in District Committees as a Trustee and a member of the District Missional Strategy Team.  He served as Elder Registrar for the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry for four years.  He also served as Registrar for Recognition of Orders for the conference Board of Ordained Ministry for two years.  He currently serves on the conference New Faith communities Ministry Team.  As a Mentor he enjoys assisting other clergy in the fulfillment of their calls into ministry.  He feels he is first and foremost called to be a pastor.
